We are excited to introduce the Jindee pelicans, a public art installation that will be one of the first things you see when you drive into the estate. Perched on timber sourced from the old Bunbury wharf, the five pelicans will be making their new home on Oceania Avenue in November 2018.
Public art is there not only to be enjoyed by everyone young and old but to enrich communities, express a common value or sentiment, spark imagination or thought and of course to add beauty to our surroundings.
Pelicans are a natural fit for our beachside community. As creator Rick Grigsby explains, in Western Australia, pelicans are a common sight along our coastline and one that evokes strong memories associated with the lifestyle we are so lucky to enjoy here. From long summer days on the beach in Cottesloe to enjoying fish and chips in Fremantle to strolling along the Busselton jetty, pelicans have always been a part of this backdrop.
